DOME OF THE ROCK The Dome of the Rock on Mount Moriah was built by Caliph Abd-al-Malik around A.D. 691. It is a Moslem shrine commemorating Mohammed’s dream of ascending from this rock into heaven. But it is better known to Christians as the place Abraham took his son to be sacrificed. |
